BIOGRAPHY

Royce Martin is a pianist, composer and 2022 graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Royce taught himself to play the piano at the age of 14 on a small keyboard. He has a rich musical background and an affinity for a myriad of genres from classical to jazz to contemporary popular. With a deep, focused knowledge of many musical traditions and their historical contexts, Royce is able to compose and perform in a truly unique way.
After graduating from high school in 2018, Royce worked as a pianist and lecturer, speaking to the long and storied history of ragtime and American music at the Scott Joplin State Historic Site in St. Louis. He continued this position during summers between college where he would eventually complete a bachelor's degree in the film scoring program. In the fall of 2020, he was tapped to provide original music for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion special on HBO-MAX. Since then, Royce has completed scores for Hulu docuseries “Mormon no More” and MAX documentary “They Called Him Mostly Harmless”. While Royce has been met with some acclaim, he remains humble with the understanding that he is but a novice to the masters who inspire him. Now, he continues on his path of musicianship — always in pursuit of the sonic sweet spot where his artistic skills meet the kaleidoscope of his vision.
